Daily Google trends
Google claims "it's all about today" - and has updated its Trends software to reflect the stance.
Trends highlights search terms which display a sudden increase in popularity, rather than those which are regularly near the top of the list - such as generic terms like "weather", according to the firm.
"For each search, Hot Trends shows related searches, a search-volume graph and the top cities," the company asserts.
Niv Efron and Eyal Molad, Google Trends Engineers in Tel-Aviv, reveal in an Official Google Blog post that the software now reports daily figures, rather than the previous monthly totals.
The search engine is also inviting users to report back with any "interesting trends" they may discover.
Meanwhile, for those who simply want to know what the most popular trends are at the moment, a new feed has been created.
This may be accessed via the Google website or by adding the feed to a newsreader program such as Google Reader, the authors explain.
"If you have ever wanted to know what the internet was thinking right now, Hot Trends can tell you just that," they assert
