A Californian firm is set to launch a new natural language search engine which aims to match the linguistic structure of a query rather than simply the words themselves.

Powerset claims that its new natural language search tool is markedly different from other search engines as it uses familiar phrases and sentences, thereby producing more accurate and effective search results.

According to the company, its search innovations "are rooted in breakthrough technologies that take advantage of the structure and nuances of natural language", E-Consultancy reports.

Writing on the Powerset blog, product manager Mark Johnson revealed that internet users will soon be able gain an insight into the search engine's capabilities.

"While we're not ready quite yet to show off our stuff, we are getting very close and will be launching Powerlabs soon," he revealed.

"In Powerlabs, you'll be able to see product demos and product ideas, learn about natural language search and, most importantly, give your feedback on our product and contribute to next generation search," he added.
