On your website, you should place your ads above the fold. I'll tell you why in this article.

Putting ads above the fold - what exactly does this mean? It means that you can sell more - here's why:

Get In Their Face

When a surfer reaches your site, many of them will "bounce" and leave if they don't soon find something interesting. You need to get your message to them very quickly so it is a good idea to give them your information straight away.

If there was a way to make it so that they could not avoid you then this would be ideal. Can you think of how we can deliver our message as soon as the surfer reaches our page? It's simpler than you think.

Where Is Above The Fold

Above the fold basically means the area that you can see when a surfer first visits your site. Even though most people have a scroll wheel on their mouse, a lot of us can't be bothered to use it!

Many people will leave a website if they are not delivered a message when they first get there. So if you want to show your ads and get them read then you need to put them above the fold.

Especially With Contextual Ads

This is especially the case with contextual ads like Google Adsense. If you put them above the fold then you have a higher chance of getting them clicked. The more clicks you get then the more money you will make, it's as easy as that.
